Ways to help acknowledge what to give up, to help you accomplish whatever it is you are working so hard for.
As creators, we all have things we want to make, launch, write, record , do - goals we long to achieve. Maybe you want to quit your 8-5 job and start a movement. Perhaps you want to become CEO of a topnotch company. Eating healthy or staying fit may be your goal. Whatever it is you wish to accomplish in the O N E life you are currently living can be difficult, and often we quit on ourselves. But why? Is it because living a "difficult" lifestyle is too much for you? What about your goals? What about your happiness? Are you going to let complex situations take over your life and continue to quit on yourself?
NO! It is time you own up to your shit, and grow a pair! Keep doing what you are doing, and while there are many things to give up on in the midst of reaching your goals, I'll let you in on a little secret... the NUMBER ONE thing you MUST give up is:
S E L F - D O U B T
It's easy for me to advise you to give up self-doubt, right? Well, I too am a victim of self-doubt and hopefully after reading the ways to help throw that shitty self-doubt out the window, you and I both will be inspired to DO SO!
Let's get started.
1. SLOW DOWN
The number one issue is continuously thinking it's OKAY to be on the go, go, go! While at times, it is okay to be on the move, for we are determined humans! However, we are also precisely that; human. We infuse ourselves with motivation and anxiety, whether it be the fear of the opinions of others or the fear of not accomplishing the day’s To-Do List. Which is why it is essential to SLOW DOWN! I battle back and forth between go faster vs. slowing down, but I found ways to help.
First, figure out WHEN it is time to slow down. Are you overwhelmed with your loads of laundry and messy house? Is work stressing you out? Are you questioning your goals may be too difficult to accomplish? Are bills getting in the way of things? Well then, slow your roll, my friend. Sit back and take five deep breaths. Analyze your life and before you go complaining, whisper aloud three things you are most grateful for. It can be anything from, being appreciative your coffee didn't get on your white shirt this morning, or "thank you, baby Jesus, my daughter is still napping!"
At this point, you should be smiling at those three things you are so grateful for, then its time to ask yourself, what’s next? You can either drink a big cup of coffee and knock out your house chores or go for a walk. Which would bring you most piece? Honestly, I’d pick the coffee and house chores, because that’s me. But we’re all different.
2. ADDRESS YOURSELF
Do you know what your triggers are? Do you know the type of person you are? You are probably any of the following; competitive, aggressive, impatient, stubborn, outgoing, easy-going, timid or what have you. Whether you relate to any of the above descriptions, we all carry self-doubt and question our lives!
What can help is to become more open-minded. More or less, become insensitive in a way that your mind is not disturbed on behalf of what others do to you, share with you, or think of you. Be the best you, that you can be, simply by eliminating those negative thoughts and address yourself in a manner of self-belief!
3. ANALYZE YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Where are you at this very moment? Are you sitting alone enjoying your coffee, hunched back at your work desk with your coworkers, or chatting away with family and friends? Well, where ever you are, look around. When was the last time you honestly assessed what you are constantly surrounded by? Seriously, think about it.
If you have isolated yourself from the world, you must be feeling some way. You should get out of your bubble and engaged with others or in activities.
If you despise your work and your colleagues, maybe you should do something about it. You do know there are other jobs out there, right? It won‘t be easy at first, but see, there will always be a first and then a second, and finally a last.
If you are nodding your head, pretending to be listening to that complaining friend of yours, it's time to question the benefits of that friendship. Your friend may not even be a complainer, but what if an instigator, a problem, a narcissist. What then? Simply analyze your atmosphere and how YOU feel around these kinds of people. Think about the energy they bring into your life. Or better yet, think about the type of person you are around them, are you a leader or a follower?
I, for one, analyzed my surroundings in my work field. The days dragged, the hours were long and heavy, and with that came a negative and exhausted mindset that I let overpower my judgment. This voice in my head whispered, leave. I wanted to so badly but, I was not ready, nor did I wish to start over.
For those who know the story, know that I left my job because I became pregnant with baby number two. However, the truth of the matter is, I left because it was my time for me to go! Getting a lovely surprise with baby number two in such a short period, was simply a little push, telling me, now is the time. With that, you will find a pregnant mother chasing her one-year-old, her big dreams, and living it up on HER schedule. It was the best decision I ever made.
4. EMBRACE THE LIFE YOU LIVE
Where ever you are in your life, remember to embrace it! Whether you are working as a night stocker at Walmart, whipping up lattes at Starbucks, or working somewhere you do not want to be, REMEMBER to embrace the JOURNEY. It is a harsh world out there, and we as humans need to do everything in our power to survive. But who says we can't survive proudly? Be proud of where you are in your journey, for the next chapter will either be better or worse. Embrace the bad and hope for the good.
I became an entrepreneur, not knowing what my income would look like, and you want to know what is helping me while I figure it out? UBER. Yes, I took on Ubering, scared shitless that someone creepy or dangerous was going to want a ride somewhere, but I did it anyway. It is not all that bad. It's actually quite relaxing. Rather than relying on my self-doubt, I strongly believed it would work out.
So, here I am still trying to figure this whole entrepreneur lifestyle while Ubering, helping out in our Driving School Business and doing something I never knew I could do - creating websites for small businesses. I am finding out more things about myself than ever. Pretty wild how that happens, huh?
Well, I am embracing the life I live, simple as that!
5. SAY GOOD-BYE TO SELF-DOUBT
Alright, let's summarize. You WILL do the following to help eliminate self-doubt:
ANALYZE YOUR SURROUNDING
EMBRACE THE LIFE YOU LIVE
SAY GOOD-BYE TO SELF-DOUBT
By slowing down, it will help address how you feel.
By addressing how you feel, it will help analyze your surroundings.
By analyzing your surroundings, you will soon realize that you live a GREAT and PURPOSEFUL life.
And finally, by living your life on purpose, you will be living it WITHOUT self-doubt. No one lives life to the fullest if they are living in the shadow of their doubtful mind.
Do you see how that works? Don't doubt yourself! Continue to push hard and be strong. Remain positive and live for today, for yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised.
Now go, be GREAT.
